Psychotherapy
The style of psychotherapy I utilize is called constructive life counseling or
Constructive Psychotherapy. Goals of Constructive Psychotherapy are to
help you to better understand and appreciate yourself and others, to
help you develop skills in solving problems and coping with
challenges in your life, and to encourage your efforts to develop in
directions that you find fulfilling and meaningful. It is
“constructive” because it emphasizes your strengths and abilities.
Challenges in your life repeatedly ask you to exercise and refine
your abilities. These challenges emphasize the importance of
your choices and actions, particularly in those periods of your life
when you may see only limited or distressing options. I will do my
best to understand and honor your distress. Our work together will
be collaborative and designed to empower you toward your life’s
goals.
In many cases, with a client’s agreement, I provide Animal Assisted
Therapy. This modality of therapy can be particularly helpful and
in motivating children and adolescents but also works well with
adults.
Psychotherapy services are provided with attention to:
